Your Guide And Advocate Through Difficult Times

Let Me Protect Your Interests In Complex Divorce Matters

When you first got married, you probably thought it was going to last forever. After all, no one gets married thinking, “I sure would like to get divorced some day.” Unfortunately, life and time have a way of changing things. People grow apart. As difficult as divorce may be, it may also be the only acceptable alternative to living in an unhappy relationship. It is not easy, though. You have spent a significant amount of time with your spouse. You have a life together. Leaving it will put you in an unknown world, one you are not comfortable or familiar with. If you add in complications such as child custody, marital property and debt, you might not know where to turn or what to do.

I am Denise A. Hirschmann, Attorney at Law, and I am here to guide you through this difficult time. For more than 25 years, I have been helping people with their difficult divorce and family law matters. I want to help you, too.

Understanding The Basics Of Divorce In Michigan

In Michigan, there is a 60-day waiting period for a divorce if the couple has no children. If children are involved, the waiting period is 6 months. This time can be waived if both parties agree, and it is in the best interests of the children. Because of these waiting periods, it is important to get the process started as quickly as possible once you have decided to divorce.

I provide comprehensive divorce representation in the following matters:

When you come into my office, I will have you fill out an intake form (you can fill this out prior to coming into my office by clicking on the link) that will provide me all the critical information I need up front. We will then determine what your individual needs are, and I will develop a strategy to accomplish your objectives.

I offer flexible services, including virtual consultations, and I am available on evenings and weekends by appointment.
